Hello Haysboro Families!

Please see below for our weekly updates!

Project Kindness

Today is the last day to contribute to Project Kindness. Any last minute donations of gift cards or items for the Calgary Humane Society can be brought to the office on Monday morning.

Thank you to everyone who so thoughtfully donated to Project Kindness this year. Thanks to your donations we have collected many items for the Calgary Humane Society and gift cards to support Haysboro families. We appreciate the generosity and care that you all have shown to support those in need. Please see the attached picture of the Humane Society donations.

If your family would benefit from support through Project Kindness, please contact Mr. Bennett at ecbennett@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-8530. All information will be kept strictly confidential. The deadline to request support from the program is Monday, December 16, 2024.

Visit from Woodman Students

Our school welcomed students from Woodman School on Friday. They joined each class and led fun winter activities with all the students such as making Gratitude Trees, Christmas Cards, Water Colour Snowflakes and Ugly Christmas Sweaters. We appreciate and value the opportunity to connect with all people in our Haysboro community and the opportunity to strengthen relationships with others across grades and schools.

Elder Shirley

We are excited to continue working with Elder Shirley next week as she shares teachings about Winter Solstice and doing hoop dancing with students. Our students always look forward to seeing her and being part of the valuable learning experiences that occur.

Winter Fun

During the last week of school, we will be having a spirit week with different themes each day. You do NOT need to buy anything special for any of these days for your students to participate.

Monday (Dec. 16) – Dress festive or fancy day (festive colors, something fancy… whatever you like!)

Tuesday – Winter Wonderland Day – Dress in Blue/White

Wednesday – Festive/Winter/Fancy headwear day (any kind of hat that you like as long as it works for learning)

Thursday – Wild Hair Day

Friday – Pyjama day (please make sure the pyjamas would work outside in case of emergency)

From Our School Council

Join us for our next school council meeting on Thursday, January 16 at 6:30 pm in person or online.  All are welcome!

Parking Lot and Street Safety

A heartfelt thank you to those families who have adapted their street safety habits to model safe behaviour for our students. We know it may take a few extra moments, but your efforts are noticed and appreciated. A gentle reminder that as with all schools, the parking lot has stalls assigned and is not available for student drop off or pickup. With the slippery conditions and staff who are frequently in and out of the parking lot, reducing community traffic is important for personal and vehicle safety. Thank you in advance for parking on the street and walking your child to the school.

Clothing and Weather

As we move into the colder months, we want to remind you that we do monitor outdoor temperatures and students will go outside daily unless it is extremely cold or wet. Thank you in advance for ensuring that your Haysboro School student arrives with clothing appropriate for the weather.

Student Absences

We've noticed that some students are absent without a reason or a parent phone call to the office. If your child will be absent from school for any reason, please call the school or email to let us know.

Important Dates:

Dec 20 – Last day of classes

Dec 20 - Kernels Fun Lunch
