One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory and decision-making authority defined within the Education Act and the School Councils Regulation. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.
Upcoming Meeting Dates
About Our School Council
School council meetings will start at 6:30 PM. Parents can attend meetings virtually or in-person.
School Councils in Alberta are a group made up of parents, teachers, principals and community members working together to support student learning. At Haysboro School we are lucky to have an active school council that works hard to enhance school programming, communicate on behalf of the parent population, and liaise with the school board and our community. During the year, the School Council will reach out to Haysboro families to inform you of activities and initiatives as well as to solicit your feedback and assistance as we work together for the school’s success.
If you are interested in being informed and involved, come check it out! If you are concerned about the time commitment please be aware that by attending meetings you are not obligated to perform any duties; we are seeking voices to inform our council so come join us.
