Hello Haysboro Families!
Please see below for our weekly updates!
Project Kindness
This holiday season Haysboro Hawks and their families with the support of School Council are invited to participate in Project Kindness by collecting donations to support families in our school community and the animals at the Calgary Humane Society.
To support our families please donate gift cards to Superstore, Canadian Tire, Amazon, gas stations, grocery stores and fast food locations. If you are able to make a large donation, please consider sending it in smaller denomination cards so that it can be distributed among more families.
For the animals at the Calgary Humane Society please donate, clean used: towels, blankets, flat sheets and animal beds. As well as new: unexpired and unopened animal food, animal treats, cat litter and animal toys.
Donations can be brought to the school office from Monday December 2 until Friday December 13.
If your family would benefit from this support program please contact Mr. Bennett at ecbennett@cbe.ab.ca or 403-777-8530. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
Please see the attached flyer for more information.
Thank you for your generosity!
Winter Fun
During the last week of school, we will be having a spirit week with different themes each day. You do NOT need to buy anything special for any of these days for your students to participate.
Monday (Dec. 16) – Dress festive or fancy day (festive colors, something fancy… whatever you like!)
Tuesday – Winter Wonderland Day – Dress in Blue/White
Wednesday – Festive/Winter/Fancy headwear day (any kind of hat that you like as long as it works for learning)
Thursday – Wild Hair Day
Friday – Pyjama day (please make sure the pyjamas would work outside in case of emergency)
School Development Plan
Our annual School Development Plan highlights some specific areas of focus and development for each year. Our Results Report highlights information from last year’s work and our current School Development Plan identifies some areas of focus for this year. I you would like more information, these documents can be found on our school website: https://haysboro.cbe.ab.ca/school
From Our School Council
Our upcoming fun lunch is December 20. Ordering for December fun lunch is open until December 15.
Join us for our next school council meeting on Thursday December 12 at 6:30 pm in person or online. All are welcome!
Parking Lot and Street Safety
A heartfelt thank you to those families who have adapted their street safety habits to model safe behaviour for our students. We know it may take a few extra moments, but your efforts are noticed and appreciated. A gentle reminder that as with all schools, the parking lot has stalls assigned and is not available for student drop off or pickup. With the slippery conditions and staff who are frequently in and out of the parking lot, reducing community traffic is important for personal and vehicle safety. Thank you in advance for parking on the street and walking your child to the school.
Clothing and Weather
As we move into the colder months, we want to remind you that we do monitor outdoor temperatures and students will go outside daily unless it is extremely cold or wet. Thank you in advance for ensuring that your Haysboro School student arrives with clothing appropriate for the weather.
Lost and Found
Our lost and found has collected many items over the past few weeks and we would like to get these items back to their owners. Please take a look at the attached pictures and if you recognize an item that belongs to your child, please let your child know that they can go pick it up. Any items remaining in our lost and found as we head into the winter break will be donated.
