Hello Haysboro Families!

Please see below for our weekly updates.

Trickster Residency

We’re excited to share that our Trickster Theatre Residency performances are coming up! All performances will be on the evening of Thursday, February 5. To help our evening run smoothly, each class has been assigned to one of two performance times. We have made every effort to schedule siblings together; however, in some cases, siblings may be performing at different times. RSVP letters have been sent home that include the time that your child's class is performing (classes perform once only). If you are missing this information due to a lost sheet, please refer to teacher weekly messages or contact them directly.

We’d also love some extra help during the residency week—if you have a current security clearance and a bit of time to spare, please consider signing up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508044AAAA62BAAF94-61724732-trickster

We can’t wait to celebrate this creative experience with you!

Fun Lunch

Haysboro School Council is pleased to continue to offer monthly fun lunches through Healthy Hunger for the new school year.  Proceeds from fun lunches are directed back to the School Council account to support initiatives like student experiences, field trips, etc.

Meals will be delivered at lunchtime to students in grade 1-6 and Kindergarten students who attend Maple Roots after school program.

If you would like to participate, you can register with Healthy Hunger if you haven't already through the following link: https://healthyhunger.ca/parent-help

The next fun lunch is Cedars Deli (with Halal options) on February 24. The deadline to order for this fun lunch is February 19.

News From School Council

The Haysboro School Council is excited to announce that we have secured this year’s major fundraising event on Saturday, May 9th and Sunday, May 10th at Cowboys Casino.

Casino fundraisers help pay for enriched learning activities like field trips, artists in residence, music instruments, and more. We need volunteers to make this happen!

Please see the letter from Council for more information. Thank you!

Kindergarten Registration Open

Registration for Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. When we plan staffing and class configurations for next year, it is incredibly helpful to have as clear a picture as possible around student numbers.

If you know of anyone who is planning to register in our wonderful school (kindergarten or otherwise), please encourage them to do so as soon as possible! If there are any questions or if support is required, we are more than happy to chat with families. Please encourage them to call the school office!

Thank you to everyone who tells us that they are sharing positive messages about Haysboro School with their friends. You are an important reason why our little school continues to grow!

Parking lot

A gentle reminder that our school parking lot is fully assigned to staff in the school and the associated offices. While a spot may be open during the day, that staff member may be returning at any time. Additionally, for the safety of people who may be walking through the parking lot and the vehicles inside, we need to keep traffic to a minimum. If you are dropping off, picking up or coming in to ask a question, we ask that you park on the street (watch out for the bus zone!) and walk into our building. Thank you very much for your support.

Cell Phones and Smart Devices

Now is a good time to remind everyone that as of last year, Ministerial Order 014/2024 has been in place and sets expectations for the use/storage of Cell Phones and other smart devices (Eg. Watches) in Alberta schools.  Our school uses the CBE's "Away for the Day" process that requires student devices to be powered off and stored in backpacks or jackets from the beginning of the day until the end of the day (including recess and lunch unless a student goes home for lunch).

Should a student or parent need to communicate, this must be done through the school office or classroom phone as appropriate. Safety and appropriate storage of any device is the responsibility of the student. Thank you very much for your support in ensuring that your children are aware of this and that they have an appropriate plan for storing any devices that they bring to school.

Please follow this link if you wish to review the Away for the Day information. The Ministerial Order is also linked in the document.  Away for the Day Use of Personal Mobile Devices in School for K-9 Students
