Dance Residency

We are really excited to share that we were recently able to confirm a residency with Decidedly Jazz Danceworks! We think this will be a great opportunity for students to be active while learning movement skills.

They are a group that is in high demand and so we feel really fortunate to get this opportunity. We have them booked to work with students for Jan 23, Jan 27, Jan 28, Jan 29 and Jan 30. We will culminate this residency with an evening showcase on Jan 30 where students will be able to share performances with their families. More details to follow but please mark your calendars.

Personal Mobile Device Reminder

As the holiday season has recently passed and students may have received a variety of gifts, we wanted to remind families of the Personal Mobile Device Policy (PMD) that was put in place by the Minister of Education before the start of this school year (please see your September Haysboro Happenings messages or the CBE website for full details). K-9 schools are designated as “Away for the day” and we will be reminding students that any such devices need to be stored appropriately or left at home. This includes a variety of devices not limited to Cellphones, Smart Watches and earbuds that have communication or connectivity capabilities.

Please refer to this message from the CBE website for more information and FAQ’s  (https://cbe.ab.ca/news-centre/Pages/personal-mobile-devices-and-social-media-use-in-schools-2024.aspx ) . Any additional updates will be shared as required.

Parking Lot and Street Safety

A heartfelt thank you to those families who have adapted their street safety habits to model safe behaviour for our students. We know it may take a few extra moments, but your efforts are noticed and appreciated. A gentle reminder that as with all schools, the parking lot has stalls assigned and is not available for student drop off or pickup. With the slippery conditions and staff who are frequently in and out of the parking lot, reducing community traffic is important for personal and vehicle safety. Thank you in advance for parking on the street and walking your child to the school.

Clothing and Weather

As we continue with the colder months, we want to remind you that we do monitor outdoor temperatures and students will go outside daily unless it is extremely cold or wet. Thank you in advance for ensuring that your Haysboro School student arrives with clothing appropriate for the weather.

Important Dates:

January 21 - Jugo Juice Fun Lunch (ordering until Jan 16)

January 31 - Professional Learning Day – No School

Have a great weekend,
Erin Bennett and Andrea Westine
