Hello Haysboro Families!

Please see below for our weekly updates.

News from School Council

Spring Garden Fundraiser  - Thank you so much to the volunteers who made this fundraiser possible! If you missed the pick-up yesterday, the flowers are currently in the school office. Please pick them up as soon as possible as we don't have a good space or way to care for them.

School Council Meeting - Our last school council meeting will be on June 11 at 6:30pm. You can join in person or online. Meeting links will be sent out closer to the date. All are welcome to attend!

Year End Picnic - The year end family picnic will be June 18 starting at 5:30 pm. There will be an opportunity to order food ahead of time if families would like to do so. The event will start at 5:30 pm and families can order food (Spolumbo's) through healthy hunger, bring their own, or just show up to celebrate and visit with the community!

Elder Shirley

Elder Shirley joined us for the final time this year. She spoke with students around plants (both in our garden and in our geographic area), our connections to nature and the season. She also spent time hoop dancing with every class!  We are always so grateful for Elder Shirley, her kindness and caring for our community and time she takes to help everyone feel special.

A big thank you also to School Council for their generous support around opportunities like this.

Parking Lot Signs

Some of you may have noticed new signs in our staff parking lot.

While we have shared through our weekly messages that the staff parking lot is not for student pick-up/drop-off, this has continued to happen. We're sure that everyone is as careful as possible when they enter the parking lot; we still ask that you park on the street.

This is important to ensure that people who are walking (staff and students) are safe and that parked vehicles are safe. We have unfortunately had a staff member sustain damage to their vehicle recently and we are not able to identify who the other driver was. As all parking stalls in the parking lot are assigned (there are no open stalls, even if it looks like it at times) and there is a clear need for safety, we have added these signs to the parking lot as a reminder.

Thank you very much for your support in choosing safety over convenience.

Bikes and Scooters

We are very excited for the return of warmer weather and with that, we know that some students might be riding their bikes or scooters to school.  We would like to remind everyone that it's always best to bring a lock for your bike/scooter. At the start and end of the day, while other students are outside the school, we are asking that bikes/scooters be walked to the sidewalk before being ridden to reduce the risk of a collision.

Yellow School Bus Registration Deadline is June 14

Families are now able to apply for yellow school bus service for the 2026-27 school year. Registration is through your myCBE account and must be received by the deadline to ensure students are added to routes for the first day of classes next year. Learn more on the CBE website. Yellow School Bus Registration Deadline is June 14

Kindergarten Registration Open

Registration for Kindergarten for the 2026-2027 school year is now open. When we plan staffing and class configurations, it is incredibly helpful to have as clear a picture as possible around student numbers.

If you know of anyone who is planning to register in our wonderful school (kindergarten or otherwise), please encourage them to do so as soon as possible! If there are any questions or if support is required, we are more than happy to chat with families. Please encourage them to call the school office!

Thank you to everyone who tells us that they are sharing positive messages about Haysboro School with their friends. You are an important reason why our little school continues to grow!
