Hello Haysboro Families!

Please see below for our weekly updates!

Parent Teacher Interviews

Our first Parent/Teacher Conferences will be on October 24 and October 25. The 24 will be in the evening and we will offer in-person interviews. The 25 will be on-line starting at 8:00 am. All interviews are 15 minutes per student. Please refer to your myCBE account to access links for your online conferences on Friday. Depending on your settings, you may also receive an email with the link.

Halloween

As Halloween is quickly approaching, we wanted to share some details and guidance around costumes and events on October, 31.

Costumes

  • Please keep costumes school appropriate – this would mean no masks, weapons or weapon like props and that they are based on themes that would be appropriate for students in Kindergarten to grade 6.
  • Students should have school appropriate clothes under the costume in case there is any need to remove the costume during the day.
  • While we will not prevent inflatable costumes from coming to school, they must meet the criteria above and also not be a distraction or interfere with learning. They will need to be deflated while in classrooms.
  • All costumes are brought to school at student/family risk.
  • Students are not required to bring a costume to school. This is a personal choice.

Food

  • We have a variety of allergies within the school. As with all events, we ask that you kindly keep any special food at home and arrange an alternate time to share it with any friends that your child would like to connect with.

Event

  • Classrooms may connect with Halloween in a variety of ways throughout the day including using Halloween themes in some of their learning. The students will also participate in a costume parade in the morning to allow the Kindergarten students to be part of the fun.

Clothing and Weather

As we move into the colder months, we want to remind you that students will go outside daily unless it is extremely cold or wet. Thank you in advance for ensuring that your Haysboro School student arrives with clothing appropriate for the weather.

Book Fair

Haysboro School will be hosting a Book Fair on Thursday, October 24 and Friday, October 25! Students will have the opportunity to preview the book fair in the school days before the times it will be open for sales. Parents can come into the school with or without their child(ren) to make book purchases on Thursday Oct. 24 between 4-8pm and on Friday, Oct 25 from 8am-1pm.

Remembrance Day and Indigenous Veterans Day

Assembly on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Doors open at 10:15 a.m.

Assembly begins at 10:30 a.m.

Rooms 3 and 6 (Ms. Brierton’s Grade 3 and 4 class and Mr. Whitehead’s Grade 1 and 2 class) will be hosting this year’s assembly. All families are welcome to join us.

Following tradition, we are giving any Haysboro student who has a veteran in their family history, the opportunity to honour them on our commemorative bulletin board at school.  If you have a photo or information about your veteran family member(s), you are invited to send copies that can be displayed for the week leading up to Remembrance Day.  If you choose to send something in, please do so before Wednesday, November 6 and be sure to label it clearly with your child’s name, so that all items can be returned.  Our families and our connections to the past are always made stronger by telling the stories and sharing the important events.  Thank you for sharing yours with all of us.
