Hello Haysboro Families!

Please see below for our weekly updates.

Haysboro School Open House

Our school open house is on Thursday, September 18 from 5:30-7:00 pm. This is an opportunity for families to come to meet our staff, visit their child's new classrooms and see other learning spaces in the school. Our garden committee will be serving tea made from plants in the garden as well.

Forms, Forms, Forms

Please review and complete the forms that have been sent home. We have attached a cover letter to indicate what needs to be returned and what you can keep for your own information.

The CBE also works in a digital way and many of our important forms are in your MyCBE account. Please remember to log in soon to ensure that you have completed the annual demographics verification (we need to verify that we have current contact information) and register for lunchroom supervision if your child stays with us during the lunch break. This is also where you will be able to see report cards when they are posted (2 times in a year). Please follow this link for more information: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/home.html

Terry Fox

This year, our school is proudly taking part in the annual Terry Fox School Run to continue Terry's dream of a world without cancer. Haysboro students will participate in this Terry Fox run on Friday, September 12 at 10:30am and we invite our Haysboro families to participate by joining students at the field at the back of the school at that time. If you would like to donate to The Terry Fox Foundation, all donations can be made online by going to https://schools.terryfox.ca/haysboro

Furry Friends and Outside Activities

We are so grateful that Haysboro School has so many families that can come by and visit before and after school in the field, and by the playground. To ensure that everyone in the community feels safe and comfortable, we kindly request that students and families walk their bikes, scooters, etc. until they are away from the school and crowds. This will help to reduce the risk of surprise collisions.

Also, while Mr. Bennett is probably the biggest dog lover ever; we would like to remind families that there is a City of Calgary Bylaw that prohibits dogs from being on school grounds. You are welcome to bring your pets to the edge of the school yard, but we ask that no matter how big or small they are, your furry friends remain outside of the fenced area all the way around the property. Thank you so much for your support!

Parking lot

A gentle reminder that our school parking lot is fully assigned to staff in the school and the associated offices. While a spot may be open during the day, that staff member may be returning at any time. Additionally, for the safety of people who may be walking through the parking lot and the vehicles inside, we need to keep traffic to a minimum. If you are dropping off, picking up or coming in to ask a question, we ask that you park on the street (watch out for the bus zone!) and walk into our building. Thank you very much for your support.

School Shirts

Today at our first assembly, we revealed our new school shirts that have our recently redesigned logo on them. The students were very excited (seriously... it was loud!) when we told them that our (along with some fundraised money from Education Matters) School Council has generously paid for a T Shirt for every student and staff member in the school!  Thank you so much to our amazing School Council for stepping up to ensure that everyone gets to feel included and represent our awesome school!

Your next question is.... can we get other things?  Yes!... but later. There will be an online store set up in the future that will be open a few times a year. You will be able to order additional items through that portal and they will be delivered to the school when they are ready! Stay tuned in the coming months for additional information!
