Hello Haysboro Families!

We are very excited to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year!

This will be a very brief message with some important information about the start of school and upcoming communication. Please note that if you have a child in kindergarten you will be receiving an email with additional important information.

When does school start?

  • School starts on Tuesday, September 2 (staggered entry for only kindergarten students, please see our calendar for staggered start information https://haysboro.cbe.ab.ca/calendar and refer to email with additional information).
  • The office will be open on Wednesday, August 27 at 8:15 am should you need any support with further questions.

Who is my teacher?

  • Teachers will be making brief phone calls home on Thursday afternoon to say hi and share important information about the first day of school.
  • Additional details about the classroom and classroom procedures will come from the teachers on Friday, September 5 or as needed ahead of that time.

What do I need to bring?

  • Your teacher will give a quick reminder next week but the basics include appropriate clothing for the weather, indoor shoes and a lunch. Please leave personal items such as stuffies, pokemon cards, toys and any school supplies at home to be enjoyed only at home.

Staffing Update

  • As we shared at the end of last year, Ms. Wanda Mahon has joined our team as a Learning Leader. She brings extensive experience from her years as an educator around the CBE and we are excited to bring that knowledge and experience to Haysboro School!

Updated Bell Times

Updated Processes:

  • We are adjusting some of our processes this year to adjust student support and respond to our new bell times.
  • Soft Entry: We will open the school doors 10 minutes before school begins (at 8:29 am). Students are welcome to enter the building at that time to change into their indoor shoes and settle into the classroom for learning to begin at 8:39 am. They are not required to come in at that time but should arrive early enough to their classroom ensure that they are ready to learn by 8:39 am. We would suggest a minimum of 5 minutes early.
  • Lunch Break: We are making some adjustments to our lunch break to increase the amount of direct adult support available to students during that time. Please see below for details:
    • 11:22 am to 12:00 pm - Grades 4-6 will have outside recess time and then come inside to eat.
    • 12:05 am to 12:43 pm - Grades 1-3 will eat inside first and then have outside recess time.
    • This will allow us to double the number of lunchroom supervisors available to students during the lunch break both during eating and outside time.

Looking forward to a wonderful year of learning together with you all!

See you next week!
