Join us for our first school council event of the year: the ultimate dance party featuring DJ Chris Brennan! Potluck snack table, dancing, crafts, school community and so much fun! All Haysboro School students and families welcome! Parental supervision is required for all students attending and entry is by donation. In Remembrance of Those Who Have Served
As we prepare to honor those who have served and continue to serve our country, we are asking families to share photos of veterans or active service members who are connected to your family.
Please send a copy of the photo—not the original—in either 4×6 or 5×7 size. To help us return the photo, please write the name of the family member it belongs to on the back.
Along with the photo, please provide any of the following information you know:
· Name of the veteran or active service member
· Relationship to your family
· When and where they served
· Date of birth
· Date of death, if applicable
Please send the photo and information by October 30. Photos can be:
· Sent to school with your child
· Dropped off at the school office
· E-mailed to Ms. Oliphant at ldoliphant@cbe.ab.ca

Healthy Hunger
It's back! Haysboro School Council is pleased to continue to offer monthly fun lunches through Healthy Hunger. Meals will be delivered at lunch time to students in grade 1-6 and Kindergarten students who attend Maple Roots. Please register with Healthy Hunger if you haven't already through the link provided: https://healthyhunger.ca/parent-help. Lunches are delivered to the school and served at lunch time. Proceeds from fun lunches are directed back to school improvement, experiences and field trips. Our next Fun Lunch is Subway on October 20. Place order at least a week in advance of Fun Lunch date so you don't miss the order deadline.
Acts of Kindness
We have seen and heard of several exceptional acts of kindness from our students around the school community lately. It sometimes only takes a moment of our time to make a big difference in someone else's day. We have been so happy to be able to recognize and thank our students for the kindness, care, and connections that they are showing each other at all times during the day!
School Store
The store is now closed. It will take a few weeks for items to arrive. We will distribute them to students after they are received and sorted!
Parking Reminder
In case you missed it in previous emails, the bus zone is now also designated as a NO STOPPING zone instead of No Parking. As it was recently changed, it would be reasonable to expect some enforcement at some point in the future. Please keep this in mind as you are picking up/dropping off students throughout the day.
Weather
Those of you that know Calgary well will not be surprised when we say, the weather can be unpredictable! At this time of year, temperatures can fluctuate quickly, and we will be sending students outside for recess even when it's cold. We regularly refer to our weather regulations and do our best to exercise caution and use our best judgement for things like windchill. However, please ensure that your children arrive with appropriate footwear, jackets, snowpants (once it snows), and a hat/gloves, regardless of how the temperature looks in the morning. We would also recommend an extra pair of socks in the backpack for the days when feet might get wet.
Lost and Found
We have a growing number of items in our lost and found. Teachers will be taking classes by to look for items. If your child is missing an item, please remind them to check lost and found.
Important Dates
October 19 - Professional Learning Day - No School for Students
October 23 - Grade 1/2 starts Alien Inline Skating (remaining groups start the following week)
November 11-15 - Fall Break
