Hello Haysboro Families!
It's been a great week at Haysboro! We have welcomed a few new students; we are seeing some awesome connections in classrooms and around the school (even across big grade gaps), and we've even had some walking field trips already!
Please see below for some important information and reminders:
Forms
We have sent several forms home that require your attention. You will also have received an email reminder from the CBE about annual forms that also require your attention. We have a responsibility to follow up on these throughout the month, so we would greatly appreciate your support around getting these completed in a timely manner. Ms. Gauthier has attached a checklist to the forms as well. If you have any questions or need support, please contact the main office.
** Please review the checklist. We have had a few families state that they have completed all forms online. Unfortunately, not all of the forms are available online; some are still physical documents that need to be returned. Hopefully, everything will be online in the future **
Parking and Street Safety
A reminder that we greatly appreciate (and need) your support around a few items.
- We have worked with the city on a few occasions, and we are unable to get an additional crosswalk installed. However, J-walking and stopping in the middle of the street to pick-up or drop-off students are both hazardous and potentially a choice that could end up with fines. Please also remember that children will follow what the adults model. We want to ensure that students are safe around the street.
- Please note that the bus zone in front of the school is now a NO STOPPING area. Previously it was a no parking zone. Please avoid the bus zone at all times as it is reserved for the school bus.
- The staff parking lot is full and for staff only. It may not always look like it, but all parking stalls are assigned on both sides of the parking lot. We also have students and staff who walk through and around that area, and it is not designed for community traffic. Thank you in advance for utilizing street parking when you come to the school.
Open House
Our open house will be on Thursday, September 17 from 5:30-7:00 pm. This is an opportunity to come visit with staff and see your child's new learning environment. We will also look forward to having more extended conversations with families about learning over the coming months.
Beginning and End of Day
We are so happy to see that some families are able to stay around to enjoy the playground or field after school. We are also grateful for the support that we receive from our families to ensure a safe environment. We would like to provide a gentle reminder about a few important items:
- As per city by-law, dogs are not allowed on school property at any time.
- We have asked students who ride bikes, scooters, etc. to school to ensure that they walk their "ride" to the edge or the school yard or well away from others before riding. This helps to reduce the risk of collisions and keeps everyone safe.
Healthy Hunger
It's back! Haysboro School Council is pleased to continue to offer monthly fun lunches through Healthy Hunger. Meals will be delivered at lunch time to students in grade 1-6 and Kindergarten students who attend Maple Roots. Proceeds from fun lunches are directed back to school improvement, experiences and field trips.

School Store
Following our School Council meeting on the 17th, we will communicate information about our online school store where you can purchase various items with our school logo.
School Council
We have an outstanding parent group that comes together every month to discuss how they can support and enhance learning opportunities in the school. They also work very hard to provide events and fundraising opportunities throughout the year. We know that they would welcome additional families at the meetings! Our first meeting will be on September 17, 2026, in the evening. You are welcome to attend in person or online. Additional information and links will be shared closer to the date.
Terry Fox Run
On September 18th from 10:15 AM to 10:45 AM the students at Haysboro School will be participating in the Terry Fox Run.
You are welcome to come cheer your child on and encourage them to keep moving during the event. If you are attending, please find a spot along the outside of marked area to cheer your child on.

CBE Caregiver Series
The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community.
Attached to this email is a poster with sessions designed to provide families with knowledge, tools, and strategies to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today. Along with the poster, additional session details are available on our corporate website: Child and Youth Well-Being Family and Caregiver Series.
We hope that you have all had a great week and we are looking forward to an awesome school year!
Have a wonderful long weekend!
